Cherry Shrimp, also known as Neocaridina Heteropoda, are small freshwater shrimp native to Taiwan. These shrimp are typically small, growing up to around 1.5 inches in length. Cherry Shrimp prefer well-planted aquariums with plenty of hiding spots and clean water with stable parameters. They are hardy, easy to care for and make great pets for beginner aquarium enthusiasts.
They are also scavengers that feed continually. They require little feeding in a well-established and planted aquarium as they scavenge off decaying plant matter or algae.
All our Cherry Shrimp are homebred in Chicago and are well-adjusted to local Chicago tap water.
Before purchasing our shrimps, we recommend that you have a well-established and cycled aquarium. Cherry shrimps are sensitive to water parameter changes and high ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.
